Chronikin

Myths taking form.

Chronikin are magical creatures born from the legends of many cultures. They are the narrative heart of Chronicles of Myth and the companions who make otherwise impossible journeys possible.

What is a Chronikin?

Creatures from beyond the known world.

The world is full of myths and legends passed from one generation to the next. At some point in history, an unknown phenomenon led to the appearance of creatures that defied nature, beings tied to the very stories once used to explain the world or teach its lessons.

Some resembled familiar animals. Others were entirely unnatural. Eventually, people discovered that certain individuals could bond with these creatures. Those creatures became known as Chronikin, and their partners became Archivists.

Chronikin Allies

A bond shared in spirit

Every Archivist chooses a first companion at the beginning of their journey, but future allies must be earned through Chronikin bonding. The process joins the spirits of Archivist and Chronikin harmoniously and symbiotically. Their experiences and emotions become shared.

An Archivist may travel with up to three bonded Chronikin at once. The essence of additional bonded Chronikin can be stored within the Archivist’s Chronikin Archive, a special book given to all Archivists for the study of these wondrous beings.

Myths Taking Form

Ascension and transformation

Chronikin arrive from another world diminished by the strain of crossing into ours. Through magical essence or shared experience with a capable Archivist, they may change until they return to what is believed to be their truest and most complete form.

These stages are known as Fractured, Balanced, and Fabled. Each transformation can alter strength, stature, movement, traits, techniques, and even behavior.
